Raymond Cusick
It is impossible to imagine the landscape of popular culture in this country with out the vast contribution made by Raymond Cusick in the 1960s. The design of the Daleks is undoubtedly one of the reasons for Doctor Who’s longevity and therefore the reason many people in different sectors have jobs today.

It is of course widely know that he was
never truly financially rewarded for his iconic design but better to remember
that through design he cemented the legendary status of a TV show that would
continue to entertain audiences and generate work and industry for years to
come. Besides designing the Daleks, that’s a pretty cool legacy.

Old, old, really old work.
This is a selection of Doctor Who work from 2009 produced whilst working for Edward Thomas (production Designer) and with Dan Walker (Concept Artist) on the redesign of the Tardis for Matt Smith's first year...
At one point it was looking like the Ext. police box dimension maybe based on the real metropolitan police box...

Tardis Interior re-design
This would clearly be too large and
impractical for TV but this is how I would re-interpret the Tardis console room
(if budget, size and camera positions weren’t an issue)
Sketches and test renders.
The design is also heavily influenced be Lee Sullivan’s comic work from the 1990s, which I loved when I was growing up.

Spacecraft sketch
Digital sketching and marker style sketch, photoshop
It's amazing how old, traditional methods are still relevant via digital technology, this is exactly how I used to worked when I was in school, with pens and markers. (also, if your school teachers ever told you that you can't get a job drawing spaceships for a living, they didn't know what they were talking about)
