Raymond Cusick
It is impossible to imagine the landscape of popular culture in this country with out the vast contribution made by Raymond Cusick in the 1960s. The design of the Daleks is undoubtedly one of the reasons for Doctor Who’s longevity and therefore the reason many people in different sectors have jobs today.

It is of course widely know that he was never truly financially rewarded for his iconic design but better to remember that through design he cemented the legendary status of a TV show that would continue to entertain audiences and generate work and industry for years to come. Besides designing the Daleks, that’s a pretty cool legacy.

  1. I do wonder what things would have been like had Ridley Scott been available as originally intended, to have designed the Daleks. One of those 'what if' scenarios!

  2. I am convinced that Ray Cusick is more responsible for the success of the Daleks than Terry Nation himself ever was. Sad that he's gone, but how great for him to see his timeless design resurface in the public consciousness over the past few years on an unprecedented level. So long Ray, and thanks.
